Windows 7 & Vista Updates Errors

Many people having problem with online updates , in windows 7& Vista having some problem for online updating, if updating is not done perfectly virus will come automatically & system performance may decrease,and some software won't work without updates....


I have some solutions to solve this problems (Note: Uninstall Google updater or any Google tools except G talk,Chrome)

MICROSOFT OUTLOOK ERROR "cannot start microsoft outlook cannot open the outlook window 2010"

Hey many of you got this problem ,There is a small procedure below for solving this issue

go to run.........& type "Outlook.exe /resetnavpane"

say ok!!!

Outlook will be opened

if not  run this below site

The way to fix this is to do a system restore.

HOW TO CHECK UPDATES ON WINDOWS BOX

This is a general question for administrators and windows users. We have two ways to test it. One is through GUI and another is through command prompt.

If your windows installed in full installation mode, then you can directly go to Start –> Windows Update –> View Update History. In that window you can check all the list of updates installed in your machine.
If your windows installed in core installation then open command prompt –> type the below command in it and hit enter.


wmic qfe list


Now, in the list it will shows all the list of updates installed in the server. Tested in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

Troubleshooting Server/Client Side error's for wsus server 2003/2008

When i check the log under c:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log i get the following error "Error 0x80072efd occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls"


Solution to this is as follows


go to RUN and type "gpedit.msc" on the client PC and check if server name/IP is correct or not.


If you have installed a new Anti-virus/Firewall, check if it has blocked any ports (which may have blocked the updates)


Clear the BITS queue

Click on start -> run


Type "services.msc"


Select "Background Intelligent transfer service", then restart this service. (stop and start resolved my problem)


Run the ClientDiag tool. you can download it from CLIENT TOOL

How to send Updates from Server to client using Windows server updated Services

Your computers do not need to join a domain to take advantage of WSUS server. You can leave your computers in a workgroup and still add them to any computer groups you want. For various reasons some small organizations may have a group of computers that they would rather not join the domain. However, they may prefer to update all the patches on these computers by using the WSUS server.


Computer groups are created in WSUS to manage computers and deploy patches in a more controlled fashion. However, to add computers to your computer groups you need to configure either Group Policy (for computers in the domain) or Local Computer Policy (for computers in a workgroup). In your case, you have computers that are part of a workgroup. So, you should follow this procedure:
1.Go to your Windows XP client and start a new Microsoft Management Console (MMC). At Start, Run, type MMC.
2.Use Ctrl+M to add a new snap-in.
3.Click Add, and then add the Group Policy Object Editor for the Local Computer.
4.Click Close, and then click OK.
5.Expand the Local Computer Policy.
6.Under Computer Configuration, go to Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Update. The result is shown in Figure 1.
7.In the right-hand pane, double-click Specify intranet Microsoft update service location. Note:You can also configure the option Automatic Updates detection frequency if you want. The default is 22 hours.
8.Configure the settings as shown in Figure 2. Replace MARS with the name of your WSUS server.
9.Click OK and then close the MMC without saving it.

Within about 20 minutes, your computer should show up in WSUS server under Unassigned Computers category. If you don’t want to wait 20 minutes, execute the following command on your Windows XP client at the command prompt:


wuauclt.exe /detectnow


Your computer will show up in WSUS right away. To move it to a different Computer Group, click "Move the selected computer under Tasks" in the upper left corner
